La Comuna 13 Graffitour: A Colourful Taste of Medellín

When you come to Medellín, something you cannot miss for sure is La Comuna 13 Graffitour. This used to be one of the most violent neighbourhoods in the city but it’s now been transformed into an open-air gallery that is full of colours surrounded by an absolute cheerful and great atmosphere.

Currently, you don’t have to worry at all as it’s now safe to go and it’s full of tourists every single day, most of them being foreigners. There are plenty of companies and local people that serve as tour guides with many of them offering guidance in English as well as in Spanish. Some are free based on a voluntary tip and there are others where you have to pay an average of $40.000 Colombian Pesos (around 12 Dollars). Be aware that there are normally two or three schedules for tours a day depending on the guide or company you choose from.

I highly recommend Color Tour Traveling, their tour is based on a transformational journey where they will show you not just the history of the place but it’ll help you understand how art has been one of the main tools to talk about transformation of La Comuna 13 and how its Art has contributed to its society and economy, it is essentially an invitation to live an experience full of changes, strength, hope, love and lots of colours.
